Who teaches here?

Hi! I’m Katie Leasor, proud owner, former RFH and RWU lacrosse player, and certified yoga therapist (C-IAYT) at Elements Yoga Therapeutics.

As a former athlete, I found myself in chronic physical pain and could often only find relief on the mat. And eventually beyond the physical practice, yoga started giving me more inner calm and self-healing to balance the stressors of modern life including working for the U.S. Department of State and at IBM.

That’s why I am always exploring how a yoga and meditation practice, as well as following some Ayurveda wisdom, can contribute to balancing the elements of modern living. I love learning and teaching about healing ourselves from the inside out—no matter our age, background, or experience with yoga. I am a certified yoga therapist with the International Association of Yoga Therapists and have over 1,000 hours of teacher training. I have also received training at the Atma Buti® Sound and Vibrational School, where I learned Sound Healing Therapy techniques with Himalayan singing bowls. More about sound healing here.

I believe accessible yoga is a great preventative practice to help ease physical and mental pain. I teach trauma informed classes and as a believer in yoga for all, I will always honor students’ financial needs and prioritize providing a safe practice. My family has lived around Fair Haven for 25 years and I always look forward to working with our local community of holistic healers and local healthcare providers, if this sounds like you, please reach out!

And I’m forever grateful to my teachers and mentors including Keith Partington, Dana Slamp, Johanna Bell, Jeannette Sealy, Julia Abramova, and their teachers for this wisdom and knowledge. As well as my family and ancestors, for giving me great lessons about life to learn and share—and to you for being here. Please let me know how I can best serve you.

What is Elements Yoga Therapeutics?

Elements Yoga Therapeutics teaches accessible self-healing tools to its clients. It's an Ayurvedic and yoga wellness practice named after the five elements composing all life – earth, water, fire, air and space. These elements are the basis of all creation according to the ancient sciences of yoga and Ayurveda. When there are fluctuations in the delicate balance of these elements—from stress, diet, sleeping habits, and more—it may result in disease-causing imbalance.

Ayurveda has been practiced in India for at least 5,000 years to help people live long, healthy, balanced lives. Its basic principle is to prevent and treat illness by maintaining balance in the body, mind, and consciousness through seasonal and daily self-care rituals – principles always integrated into our group and private classes.

Elements Yoga Therapeutics offers private and public services to make students “feel more at home” as one student said. And from late May - late September, public group classes are offered outside on the beach (weather permitting).
